Serving with Pride Since 1969

Fire Chief’s Message

Welcome to the new website of the Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department!

We hope you find it informative and helpful in learning about the work we do in the community.

Founded in 1969, Timber Lakes VFD proudly operated as an all-volunteer fire department, also providing the only ambulance service in the county for many years. For nearly 40 years, we remained the only all-volunteer department in the area until 2018.

Today, Timber Lakes VFD serves over 8,500 residents across a 3-square-mile area known as Emergency Service District #14, which funds and contracts our services. The district has experienced rapid growth in recent years, particularly with new developments along Sawdust Road. To meet the increasing demand, in 2018, Timber Lakes VFD implemented a duty crew with part-time staff, ensuring the station is manned 24/7. In 2019, the Fire Department and the ESD Board began planning the construction of a new fire station, with completion expected by mid-2025.

We encourage everyone to get involved in their community, whether through the Volunteer Fire Department, HOA, Neighborhood Block Watch, or Water Board. There’s always a way to lend a helping hand!

Sincerely,

Josh Kennedy, Fire Chief
